Types of Dressings
The thickest dressings are called pads (e.g. abdominal pad) and are designed to apply even pressure across the entire wound area. Gauze dressings may have a non-stick layer that is placed against the wound. Packaged dressings are considered sterile unless the packaging is damaged in some way. Types of Dressings and Bandages
Adhesive dressings A sterile, non stick dressing with adhesive strips that attach it to the skin. Available in many sizes and shapes, they are used for smaller wounds with
minimal bleeding. Pressure dressings

Pressure dressings are used to apply even pressure on severe bleeds. Gauze dressings A sterile, absorbent and lint-free cloth dressing.
