Examining the Eye • Position the patient towards the best light available and seat them. • Support their head and have them open their eyes as widely as possible. Carefully look for particles on the surface of the eye. • Have the patient look to the left and then right to examine the corners of the eye. • To examine under the eyelid, gently pull the lid up or down while the patient looks in the opposite direction. examination of the eye
Signs and Symptoms Eye injury
• Bleeding • Discharge of fluid or pus • Bruising • Decreased, blurred or double vision • Loss of vision • Eye pain, stinging, burning • Headache • Irritation or itchiness
• Unequal pupil size • Red, bloodshot eyes • Sensitivity to light
