Child CPR Cycle

Chest compressions: 30 for every 2 breaths at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. Rescue Breaths: 2 Kneel next to the patient and place one hand on the centre of their chest, over the breastbone. Use one or two hands depending on the size of the child. • Lean forward so your shoulders are directly over the patient. • With elbows locked, press the heel(s) of your hands straight down to a depth of at least 5 cm (2 inches). • Release your weight, allowing the chest to rise completely. • Give 30 compressions at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. Push hard and fast. Maintain an even rate/rhythm. Open the airway and give two rescue breaths.

• Follow procedure for summoning help if alone. • Repeat the cycle of 30:2 compressions and rescue breaths until patient responds, an AED is attached, medical help takes over, or you are too exhausted to continue.
