AED ‘Shock Required’ Algorithm 1. The AED will analyze and charge itself from the onboard battery. Once the AED is charged, clear all people away and make sure no one is touching the patient. 2. Press the shock button to deliver the shock.Once the shock is delivered, assess for breathing. 3. If the patient is not breathing, resume CPR for five cycles of 30:2 compressions and rescue breaths. Repeat assessment/AED.
