7 Bleeding, Wound Care and Trauma

Object stuck to or embedded in the eye • Do not touch or apply pressure to the object. • Leave it in place. • Calm and reassure the patient. 1. Apply a dressing to both eyes. For larger objects, pad around the embedded object with dressings to stabilize the object and use a cup or cone taped in place over the eye to prevent any pressure on the object. 2. Bandage both eyes to reduce eye movement. • Get medical help immediately.
