Premergency First Aid, CPR and AED Manual
7 Bleeding, Wound Care and Trauma
8. How will you move Anita to the car? The patient must be moved in such a way that does not put pressure on the injury. As the wound is to the foot, the patient will need to be carried or supported. 9. What do you need to consider while transporting Anita to the hospital? How to best transport the patient in a position of comfort, how to provide ongoing care, and how to control bleeding if it resumes. 10. What information will you provide the hospital regarding Anita, the accident, and your role? Information should include your name and level of training, the patient’s name, age, history, and SAMPLE as well as the first aid you provided.
11. Should you continue to stay with Anita while she is waiting? Your legal responsibility ended when the nurse accepted the patient into the hospital system. The patient can still benefit from support and reassurance should you wish to provide it.
