8 Muscle, Bone and Joint Injuries

Pelvic injury Any time there are signs and symptoms or a mechanism of injury that suggests a possible pelvic fracture, you should suspect a fractured spine. Complications of pelvic fracture include both spinal and bladder injury.

Signs and Symptoms Pelvic injury

• Deformity • Open wound • Tenderness or pain in the groin or small of the back, pain increases with movement • Swelling or bruising • Urge to urinate or may be unable to urinate despite the need • Blood in urine • Signs and symptoms of internal bleeding • Shock
