9 Other Emergencies

Injected poison • Ensure your safety. Wear gloves. • If injected poison is from an insect or animal, give first aid for that injury (See Chapter 7 – Bleeding and Wound Care). • If you or a patient is stuck by a contaminated needle, thoroughly wash the affect area with soap and water. Seek medical care. If you can do so safely, save the needle for medical analysis.
