Ongoing Care/Transport – After convulsions • Monitor LOC and ABC’s • Reassure the patient and be supportive while waiting for medical help. • The patient may take some time before they feel comfortable talking about the situation Hand-Off and Documentation • The patient may take some time befor ethey feel comfortable talking about the situation

Psychiatric and Behavioural Emergencies Assessment and First Aid Scene Assessment - Scene Safety • Call 911/Get help/Get a first aid kit/Get an AED • Approach the patient from the front so they can see you. • Be calming and non threatening • Determine the MOI/NOI • Activate 911 for an unconscious patient or one with altered mental status Primary Assessment • ABC’s - Treat life threat • Rapid body scan Secondary Assessment • History and vital signs • Be aware of changes in vital signs that may indicate an underlying medical condition or injury • Allow extra time when questioning and be patient
