First Aider in Action: Part 8 One of the paramedics crouches down and introduces himself, asking what happened. You introduce yourself and your training and then relay the history of the incident, describing what you saw happen and the first aid you gave. You feel embarrassed when you can’t remember the patient’s vital signs and have to say that the heartbeat was a little fast and the breathing was normal. The paramedics take Gregory’s vital signs and confirm the SAMPLE questions. Gregory is sitting up and says he is feeling much better and does not want to go to the hospital. The paramedics convince Gregory to come rest in the ambulance’s air-conditioning and drink some more water, and he agrees. The paramedics thank you and the woman for your help and both Gregory and his coworker do too. You say goodbye to the woman and continue on your way, thinking that the incident went well and you won’t forget to record vital signs again.
