10 Lifting and Moving

Human crutch – Support the patient on the injured side with their arm across your shoulder and your arm around their shoulder. Use your inside leg in unison with the patient to take weight off their injury. If a second person is available, have them support the patient on the opposite side. Consider using the seat carry if a second rescuer is available.

Pack strap carry – Sit the patient up and grasp their wrists together in front of them. Slip your head through their arms and lift their weight onto your shoulders.
