10 Lifting and Moving

Fore/Aft carry – One first aider slides their arms under the patient’s shoulders and through the armpits, crossing the hands over and grasping the wrists. A second person grasps the patient’s legs above the ankle. Walking out of step provides a smoother carry for the patient.

Seat carry – Two first aiders each cross an arm behind the patient’s back and grasp each others wrists with their other arm, forming a seat for the patient.
