10 Lifting and Moving

Lifting a Patient onto a Stretcher • This technique is used to lift a patient onto a stretcher or to transport them a short distance when there is no blanket available or time does not permit a blanket lift/carry. • Each first aider kneels next to the patient with the knee closest to the patients feet on the ground. The person in command is at the patient’s head. • On command, lift the patient up together and rest them on your knee.
