While the Scene Assessment is a critical component of providing First Aid, you start providing direct patient care when you first greet a patient and obtain consent. The Primary Assessment has one goal. To identify and start treatment of immediate or possible life threats. The primary assessment looks at four vital signs : 1. Assess level of Responsiveness and determine consent. 2. Assess the Airway , identify and treat life threats. 3. Assess Breathing , identify and treat life threats. 4. Assess Circulation , identify and treat life threats.
