First Aider in Action: Part 8 Although your responsibility as a first aider ended when you passed off care to the hospital, you decide to stay with your friend while she waits. After a time, Anita is called in to see a doctor. When he examines the wound he decides that it needs to be cleaned out and will require stitches. He also compliments you on the first aid you provided. A nurse gives Anita some pain medication and begins to clean the wound in her foot. This causes the wound to start bleeding again, but it is mild and the hospital staff seem unconcerned. By the time the doctor comes back to stitch the wound, Anita’s mother has arrived so you say your goodbyes. Anita thanks you again for your help as does her mother.
