8 Muscle, Bone and Joint Injuries
No splinting material • Pad between the legs with a blanket or similar. • ‘Buddy’ splint the injured leg to the uninjured leg with bandages. • Avoid passing a bandage directly over the injury. With splint material • Position a long splint on the injured side, from just below the armpit to below the ankle. • Position a shorter splint on the inside of the leg, from just below the groin to below the ankle. • Pad both splints. • Secure the splints to the leg with bandages. • Avoid passing a bandage directly over the injury.
