3. What other resources can you apply to the scene or patient care? Identify resources available to you and apply them to the scene in the most effective way you can. Use bystanders as available to get help, get a first aid kit, or help with patient care. 4. Is a secondary assessment necessary? Why or why not? A secondary assessment is necessary. A patient SAMPLE and history as well as a full assessment for injuries is required. With a MOI such as a fall down stairs, multiple injuries can occur.

First Aider in Action: Summary 1. What is the MOI and possible injury to the patient. Can you rule out a life threat? The MOI appears to be a fall with multiple direct trauma from rolling down the stairs. Possible injuries include head and spinal injury as well as other possible fractures, dislocations, and sprains. You can not rule out a possible life threat from an injury caused during the fall or a possible medical condition. 2. What else can you do to help the patient at this time? Protecting the head and neck and monitoring the patients airway and breathing are your primary concerns. Additionally, you can monitor the LOC and reassure the patient.
