incision – Cuts in the skin and tissue. inhalation Injury – Injury from breathing superheated air or gasses. internal bleeding – The loss of blood from the body’s blood vessels into the surrounding tissue or body cavities. incontinent – When a patient loses control of bladder or bowel function. ischemia – A restriction in blood supply to tissues, which causes a shortage of oxygen and glucose. joint – Is formed every time two bones come in contact. labour – the stages of delivery that is childbirth. laceration – Tears in the skin and tissue. These wounds are not cut by sharp thin objects like incisions but are torn open instead. The edges of the wound are jagged and irregular.

last oral intake – When did the patient last eat or drink? LOC – A mnemonic used to remember level of consciousness. Mechanism of Injury (MOI) – An outside physical force that damages or hurts the body. This is generally found in injured or trauma patients. medications – A legal, prescribed or over the counter, drug or substance. nausea – An uncomfortable feeling in the stomach. Can lead to vomiting. miscarriage – (Spontaneous abortion) is the birth of a fetus before the 20th week of pregnancy. musculoskeletal system – The bones and muscles in the body.
